“I’m too tired” “I don’t have time” “Eating healthy is hard” “Exercise is boring” “Healthy eating has no flavor” “This won’t work for me like it did for so and so” “I’ve tried x,y,z and failed, why will this be any different?”
Do any of these sound familiar? They do for me! I used them ALL the time before! I get it… I get home from work and all I want to do is sit down. I’m on my feet training dogs all day, I get home and I’m beat! Something finally clicked for me though. I knew I needed to change, but I didn’t know how. I had tried numerous things on my own and failed. I had just trained this awesome dog, Siren, and became Facebook friends with his mom, Jenna! She was always posting such positive things on Facebook and talking about 21 Day Fix, Shakeology, and Beachbody! I had thought about doing a program in the past but wasn’t ready financially and most of all mentally. I finally reached out to Jenna who helped me get the ball rolling, and has been a HUGE inspiration and motivation through the process! Not only that but Kari did it with me! We work out every morning before work (still!) and she followed the eating plan with me that first round! So not only did I have these two amazing ladies right there by my side through the trials and tribulations, but I also had the support of an amazing challenge group! That’s the great part about Beachbody, you DO NOT have to go through your journey alone! You have your coach, and you have great support in the challenge groups! It’s guaranteed that someone else in the group has struggled with the same thing you are and can offer some words of encouragement!
“So how do you make time to workout and get meals prepped with a full-time job and other responsibilities??”
Currently I am following the 21 Day Fix Extreme Program, while sprinkling different workouts in there as extras! So with the Fix you are exercising for 30 minutes a day, 7 days a week! Who can’t find 30 minutes a day to workout in your home? You don’t have to go out and drive to the gym, just throw on workout clothes and get it done! Shoot, most people spend more than 30 minutes on social media, and if you have time for that you have time to workout! Am I right!? I get in my workout in the morning with my awesome workout partner! But I have also been working out in the evening!
I make sure I prep as much of my food as I can for the week on Mondays! Mondays are my Sundays since I have off work Sundays and Mondays. I pre-cut fruits and veggies, I pre-cook things that reheat well! This has proven to be huge for me! I don’t give myself the chance to make a bad decision. I have everything ready to go. If I know I’m going to have a busy day driving to appointments I make sure to pack a lunch I can eat on the road and that doesn’t need to be heated!
The most important thing to remember is taking time for yourself is a good thing. You are important and worth the time it takes to get healthy! Getting healthy has changed my life in so many ways! I am so much more confident and comfortable in my own skin! All the time, energy, and soreness has been more than worth it!
